Loss Adjuster - Latent Defects

The Role:
Marley Risk Consultants Ltd are a chartered Loss Adjusters servicing the needs of the Latent Defects Insurance market across the UK. Established in 2013, we have offices in Shrewsbury and Evesham and are going through a period of growth to meet the needs of our expanding client base.
We are seeking an experienced Loss Adjuster to join our team. The postholder will be responsible for evaluating insurance claims and managing a portfolio of Latent Defect Claims on both a delegated and retained authority basis. You will be home-based or can work from our offices if desired, depending upon your location, and will be expected to travel to sites throughout the UK.
Key Activities:
Manage allocated portfolio of Latent Defect Insurance claims to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Attend on-site meetings to investigate causation and cover.
Review reports and gather information as required to fully investigate each claim.
Liaise with other industry professionals, such as Surveyors, Engineers, Solicitors and Insurers to discuss claims, agree investigation strategies, manage costs and maximise recovery prospects.
Produce detailed claim reports, advising on liability and costs and making appropriate recommendations with regards to policy liability and claims handling strategy.
Skills and Experience required:
A proven track record of managing construction claims, including simple and complex claims. Ideally you will have experience of latent defects insurance for new builds, conversions and self builds. We will also consider candidates with a background in subsidence claims, general insurance buildings works or other related fields.
Experience of IT systems including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams and Claims Management Portal Systems (specific training on company systems will be given as required).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong understanding of building regulations, construction law and insurance law and their practical applications in the industry.
Able to quickly build positive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Well organised with excellent time management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
Confident working independently under instruction.
CII/CILA qualified, ideally with or working towards Advanced Diploma or higher, with the potential for further professional study as your career develops.
Bachelor degree (preferred). Qualifications in Surveying, Approved Inspector and/or Building Control would be advantageous.
Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required. This may involve overnight stays, depending on region serviced and site location.
