IT Support Technician

Job Location:

  • Shrewsbury, with occasional travel to other offices.

Job Type:

  • Full-time (Mon-Fri).

The Role:

  • Provide comprehensive IT support to the company to ensure that the IT infrastructure is able to meet current and future business needs.

Key Activities:

  • Manage all IT-related hardware and software to ensure effective functionality. This will include but is not limited to:

    o    1st line IT and telephony support, responding to and resolving user queries in a timely manner. This will include in-person and remote support as required.

    o    Set up new users, ensuring that staff have access to the appropriate IT tools required to complete their duties.

    o    Install new hardware/software and perform upgrades as required to meet the developing needs of the business.

    o    Manage all troubleshooting and perform hardware/software fixes.

    o    Work on bespoke applications to meet business requirements.

    o    Maintain data security for the business, ensuring compliance with relevant legal requirements, industry standards and company policy. Take appropriate action to protect company data from malicious activity and ensure users follow appropriate protocols to mitigate risk.

    o    Assist in the purchase of new IT-related equipment and furniture, ensuring that each purchase meets business needs and offers value-for-money.

    o    Manage relationships with external service providers and suppliers.

    o    Keep abreast of technological developments, exploring opportunities to improve IT processes and capability.

  • Participate in any internal or external training as required. The company will cover the cost of all training fees but reserves the right to claim back some or all of the costs should you leave the company within a certain timeframe (as stipulated in your contract of employment).

  • Perform other tasks as reasonably required by Operations Manager or Senior Management.

Skills and Experience required: 

  • Proven work experience providing 1st line IT support, resolving issues in Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft 365.

  • Demonstrable ability to set up and configure Windows OS.

  • Experience troubleshooting Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 products.

  • Experience with cloud-based telephony/PBX tools, VoIP handsets, MS Exchange, email filtering systems and cloud storage systems is desirable.

  • A team player who is willing to ask questions to ensure tasks are completed effectively, and willing to assist colleagues by sharing knowledge and expertise.

  • Well organised with excellent time management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

  • Confident working independently under instruction.

  • Able to adapt to new challenges.

  • Educated to A-Level standard, with GCSE English Language grade 5/C or equivalent. IT-related bachelor’s degree preferred.
